Thursday was so boring that there wasn't even a need to publish anything…I mean, aside from Nic Shimonek commiting to Iowa. As he has a super weird last name you know he's Iowa's QB of the future. Also from BHGP: What Effect Would Relegation Have Had On Past Iowa Football Seasons? ROYYYYYYYYYYAL RUUUUUUUUMBLE!!!!! WHO WOULD WIN IN THE ULTIMATE BATTLE OF BIG TEN MASCOTS? (This is really stupid because they left it to a fan vote…on a Purdue site). Herky's Locker Room opens tomorrow at Valley West Mall in Des Moines at 10AM. I look to buying overpriced "official" gear from…
The Iowa Hawkeye Family
As previously stated: when things get slow, I start posting videos. Here's another, courtesy of LammyHawk. We’ll start out with the veterans: Bradley Fletcher effectively lost his starting spot when the Rams signed Cortland Finnegan and drafted Janoris Jenkins in the second round. Finnegan is an obvious starter and already played for new HC Jeff Fisher while Jenkins possesses all the talent in the world but is looked down upon due to character issues. Dallas Clark visited with Kansas City and all signs point to him signing with the Chiefs. While it’s good that Clark is catching on with a team…
Weekend Hawkeye Roundup: 05/14/2012
Congrats to all of this weekends graduates but especially to Don Nelson, a Hawkeye and NBA legend. Here's a great video from Iowa summarizing Coach Nelson's return to Iowa: Better 50ish years later than never, right? Here's Iowa's official story on Coach Nelson graduating. While we're on the topic of basketball, attendance is up for the second straight year. The Iowa women's basketball team added a recruit in PG Kathryn Thomas. God save her ACL's. Coach Fran is very positive about Eric May despite the setbacks he's suffered over the years. You don't realize he's been injured that much until you…
The Kirk Ferentz Era in 7 Minutes
…Set to the soundtrack from Requiem for a Dream. Aside from the odd choice in music, the video perfectly encapsulates the entire Kirk Ferentz era. Enjoy!

What’s the Deal With Number One?
This morning Blair Sanderson of Rivals.com Tweeted the following: Four-star OL Jake Campos confirms with HawkeyeReport.com that he committed to #Mizzou this morning. Profile: rivals.yahoo.com/missouri/footb… — Blair Sanderson (@BlairRIVALS) May 10, 2012 Jake Campos is a 4-star offensive tackle from Valley High School in West Des Moines and the top Iowa recruit for 2013. With his verbal to Missouri he becomes the third straight top recruit out of Iowa who has committed to an out of state school. Digging deeper, we find that the top recruit has spurned an in-state school five out of the past six years. Here's the…
